Mounts Bay School would like to thank the following organisations for their support with the Summer Sports Camp:

 

 


All primary and secondary schools in Penwith will be sent 50-100 application booklets in the week beginning the 20th of June 2005.

For every activity please register your child in the Community Sports Centre (blue building adjacent to the sports dome) 15 prior to the start time &

REMEMBER: WRITE A SEPARATE CHEQUE FOR EVERY ACTIVITY THAT YOUR CHILD APPLIES FOR.

This allows us to send cheques back to you if your child is unsuccessful at obtaining a place on all of their chosen activities


Activities on offer this year:

Multi-sports:

AGES 5 – 7 ONLY Cost: £8 for the whole week

Games & Activities which will be challenging and fun. These will involve adapted smaller versions of mainstream generic sports. 

A 5 DAY COURSE

Due to the popularity of these sessions children can sign up to one week only.

Available weeks:

Mon 1st August – Fri 5th August

Mon 8th August – Fri 12th August

Mon 15th August – Fri 19th August

Each day the sessions will run from 9.30am – 12.30pm


Squash:

Ages 8 – 15 

25th July  4-5pm Beginners 

26th July 4-5pm Advanced (have played before)

 Cost: £1/session   

Coach: Mike Phillips – Professional Squash Coach

Registration will take place in the Mounts Bay School Sports Centre (Blue building, adjacent to the sports dome) at 3.30pm.


Table Tennis:

Ages 8 – 15 ONLY

Cost £2/session 

10am – 12noon on the following dates:

Children can attend as many sessions as they wish.

Tennis:

For beginners and intermediate players

Ages 10 – 14 ONLY

 

A three day course. Participants must sign up to all three days.

 

10am – 12noon

 

Dates: 2nd, 9th & 16th of August.

 

Cost: £5 for the whole course.

Athletics:

AGES 8 – 12 ONLY

This day is for beginners through to advanced. Learning about running, jumping and throwing.

Kayaking: 

For children aged between 12 – 15 ONLY

A Three Day Course.

2nd, 3rd & 4th of August

9am – 4pm each day.

 

A three day course covering all aspects of sea kayaking. This course will run both on site & off-site activities and will involve the ‘One-Star’ Kayaking Challenge.

Cost: £15

(Please write a separate cheque for each activity that your child applies for)

ESSENTIAL INFO: Please bring along the following: Wetsuit (if you have one), Long trousers, Long sleeved top, T Shirt, Shorts, Old trainers or wetsuit boots, Waterproof cagoule (if you have one), sun hat/cap, sun cream, A drink, A PACKED LUNCH, a change of warm dry clothes.

 Multi-skills:

A THREE DAY COURSE

Participants must sign up for all three days.

 

15th, 16th, 17th of August

 

AGES 8 – 11 ONLY

 

10am – 3pm

Cost: £6 for all three days.

 

All activities will be generic to all major sports offering children the chance to improve their co-ordination, speed, balance & agility.

 

This will be held on the sports field or in the sports dome if poor weather.

 

TUTOR: Floyd Barnett and Community Coaches with assistance from PIRATES AFC players on the final day.

 

ESSENTIAL INFO: Boots & Trainers required + warm, wet weather clothes for outdoors.  SUNCREAM & SUN HAT


Basketball with the Plymouth Raiders:

8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th of August

 

Ages 11 – 15 GIRLS ONLY Monday 8th of August

Ages 8 – 10 MIXED Tuesday 9th of August

Ages 11 - 13 MIXED Wednesday 10th of August

Ages 14  - 17 BOYS ONLY Thursday 11th & Friday 12th of August

 

10am – 3pm every day

 

Places available: 30 each day

This is a chance to be coached by players from one of England’s best teams.

 Circus Tricks:

5th August

 

Afternoon session 1pm – 3.30pm

 

Ages 8 - 12 yrs ONLY

 

Cost: £2

 

This is an introduction into circus skills. This will cover everything from plate spinning to stilt walking to juggling.

 

TUTOR: Jade Dunbar from SWAMP CIRCUS

 

Essential Info: Please wear normal sporting clothes.

Disability Sports Days:

AGES 8-16

18th & 19th of August 2004

10am – 2pm

 

TWO DAYS OF VARIOUS SPORTS FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES.

 

Cost: £3/day or £5 for both days

20 Places Available.

 

This day will have various sports to try your hand at. There will be multi-skills, athletics, basketball, table-tennis, tennis and many more.

 

Tutors: Floyd Barnett, Viv Mathews and a Community Coach.

 

Report to Mounts Bay School Sports Centre (the blue building adjacent to the Sports Dome) at 9.30am

 Tri-Golf:

AGES – 8-12 ONLY

10am – 12noon.

 

Cost: £2/session or £5 for all three sessions

 

Participants can sign up any amount of sessions.

 

Dates:

 

Monday 1st August, 8th August, 15th August.

 

Tri-golf is an adapted version of golf for young children. These will be really fun sessions with different targets to aim at. Participants will learn basic golf skills and etiquette of the game.

 

Coach: Scott Richards PGA Professional

 

CLOTHING: Indoors Shorts, T-shirt, Tracksuit and Trainers.


Badminton:

FOR CHILDREN OF ALL STANDARDS

 

Thursday 18th August AGES 8-11

1.30pm – 3.30pm

 

Friday 19th August AGES 12 – 15

1.30pm – 3.30pm

 

Cost: £1/session

This is a chance for children of all standards to be coached by the Cornwall Badminton Development Officer and the Poltair Sports Partnership Racket Sports Coach. These will be both fun two hour sessions.

 

CLOTHING: Indoor sports wear

Hockey:

3rd of August

'Terms & Conditions’ For Mounts Bay School Summer Sports Camp 2005

  • A separate cheque for the full amount of each activity must be sent with the application form to make it a valid application.
  • The Mounts Bay School Summer Camp is open to ALL children in Penwith and NOT just pupils from Mounts Bay School.
  • All children must report to the School Community Sports Centre and register before attending their chosen activity. Some activities will take place OFF the school campus however children will be returned to the Mounts Bay campus for the end of their activity.
  • No telephone booking will be accepted. All bookings will be taken by post only.
  • If for any reason, your son or daughter has to withdraw from an activity, please ring Mr Coleman to cancel as soon as possible, so that a replacement can be taken from the reserve list.
  • All registers will be displayed in the window of the sports centre one week before the first activity takes place.
  • THE CLOSING DATE FOR ALL APPLICATION FORMS IS THE 20th OF JULY. ALL FORMS MUST HAVE ARRIVED AT THE SCHOOL BY THIS DATE. THIS ALLOWS TIME FOR THE CHECKING OF CONSENT FORMS, CHILD ALLOCATION AND ATTENDANCE LISTS.
  • It is essential that the pupils have the correct clothing for each activity. If in doubt please ring 01736 352323 ext one.
  • For all full day activities pupils will be need to BRING A PACKED LUNCH. Snacks will be on offer from the tuck shop all day.
  • The highest standard of behaviour will be expected at all times. Any poorly behaved children will have parents called to collect them immediately.
  • In the event of an injury, a participant must report to your coach/tutor immediately. A full first-aider will be present each day.
  • Pupils are responsible for their own possessions. Please do not bring anything of value.
  • Some activities require children to be taken off-site in a mini-bus to their activity.
  • REGISTRATION WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE MOUNTS BAY SCHOOL SPORTS CENTRE, ADJACENT TO THE SPORTS DOME. PLEASE PARK IN THE MAIN SCHOOL CAR-PARK AND WALK WITH YOUR CHILD UP THROUGH THE SCHOOL GROUNDS TO THE SPORTS CENTRE
